Cattle Management

Our purebred cattle run alongside our commercial herd and are expected to produce and perform with no special treatment

Within 24 hours of birth, calves are weighed, tagged, and given Vitaferst. Before grass turnout, they receive 8-way and BoviShield Gold; cows and herd bulls are treated with Cylence. The entire herd is turned out mid-June with free-choice salt and trace minerals. They receive no supplemental feed or grain. Calves are never creep fed - every pound on the scale in the fall is thanks to their hard-working mother cows.

Calves are weaned, weighed, and boosted at home early to mid-October. Mature cows remain on pasture and stubble until mid- to late-November. At preg-check they receive CattleMaster Gold FP5, Covexin, and ivermectin pour-on. They winter on hay and greenfeed with free-choice salt and mineral tubs.

Bull Development

Bred to Work, Fed to Last

Bulls are purpose-developed as two-year-olds - not leftovers or holdovers from a yearling program, and have never been pushed on feed. They spend their first winter on a light 14% pellet ration and free-choice hay. Summer is spent on grass with no supplemental feed - only salt and minerals. In late fall, they are returned to the same light 14% pellet ration and continue through the winter on hay and greenfeed.

Our goal is to produce bulls that are honest, masculine, athletic, and structurally sound. They are fed for longevity and functional fitness making it easy to evaluate true genetic potential. Come sale time, they are in ideal breeding condition, ready to hit the pastures and cover your females.

We cull rigorously and regularly from birth to sale day to ensure only our best enter the offering.

We require:

  • Good vigor at birth

  • Masculine character and attractive phenotype

  • Strong scrotal development

  • Correct feet with good heel and claw shape

  • Safe, workable disposition
